I believe flowers have the power to transform more than a space — they transform the way you experience a moment, and become part of the memories you carry long after the wedding day has passed.

I'm Tara Peterson, owner and floral designer behind Peterson's Patch, a flower farm and wedding floral studio in Sterling, Connecticut. Inspired by the beauty of nature, I create romantic, garden-inspired designs that tell each couple's story with intention. Many of the flowers I design with are grown right here on our farm, then paired with the finest seasonal blooms to create floral experiences that feel abundant, natural, and deeply personal.

But beautiful flowers are only part of what I do.

More Than Flowers

Before becoming a wedding florist, I spent more than twenty years as a registered nurse. Caring for people has always been part of who I am — today, I simply do it differently.

Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, and I know how much trust it takes to hand over your vision. My role isn't just to create beautiful flowers — it's to guide you through the process with calm, thoughtful communication, so you can enjoy your engagement knowing every floral detail is in capable hands. When my couples look back on their wedding day, I want them to remember how they felt: peaceful, present, completely taken care of.

Growing flowers has taught me to embrace the beauty of every season. Many of my favorites — dahlias, lisianthus, ranunculus, and other specialty blooms — are grown here on the farm. When a design calls for something beyond what the season provides, I source from trusted local growers and premium wholesalers who share my commitment to quality and sustainability. Every stem is chosen for a reason — not simply because it's beautiful, but because it helps tell your story.

I intentionally accept a limited number of weddings each season, so every couple gets the time, creativity, and personal attention they deserve.

Throughout the growing season, you'll find farm-fresh bouquets at my self-serve flower stand, seasonal flower subscriptions, and event florals — all created with the same care that goes into every wedding.
